Fixated on bridal magazines and wedding rings, Maggie is obsessed with marriage, and all she wants in life is for her boyfriend, Alex, to propose. But Alex has other plans. When he's not keeping the kids at bay as a substitute elementary school teacher, or horsing around with his semi-adolescent friend Woody, he'd rather spend time logging thoughts in his diary than relating to Maggie's needs. So when Maggie sneaks a peek at that precious diary of his and discovers his doubts about her and the future of their relationship, she breaks up with him. Alex scours his diary himself, propelling us into the past, in a search both moving and hilarious, to discover where things went wrong and how to set them right.
